Vocabulary is all saved

In fact, the essence of language learning is the same. Let’s first review the process of learning Chinese (Mandarin). In the process of learning Chinese, how many people have encountered Chinese teachers or parents who asked them to recite “Xinhua Dictionary” and “Cihai”? I think most people should not have this experience.

Most of us have gradually accumulated Chinese vocabulary through studying day after day. In fact, by the middle school stage, after we have mastered the 3,500 commonly used Chinese characters, there is basically no obstacle to reading Chinese. You may have encountered some unfamiliar words or phrases, such as “peers” and “ghosts and monsters”. At this point, you might stop and look it up in a dictionary to see how it is pronounced and what it means. If this word is a polyphonic word, you may also pay attention to the pronunciation of this word.

The same goes for learning English. When you encounter a word you don’t understand, just look it up in a dictionary. Now that we have smartphones and computers, you no longer need a paper dictionary. You can search directly and get the results immediately. The vocabulary you accumulate slowly in this way is the vocabulary you truly master.

But why do so many people want to quickly improve their English vocabulary by memorizing vocabulary books? Most English vocabulary books have a word called “abandon” on page 1, which means “to give up.” You see how well-intentioned the editor of the vocabulary book is. He tells you on page 1: Give up and stop memorizing the vocabulary book. Of course, this is an old joke about memorizing words.

If you are preparing for a certain exam, such as CET-4 or CET-6, then you will most likely buy a vocabulary book. However, don’t assume that your vocabulary will improve just by memorizing this vocabulary book. Just recite the vocabulary book, and you will forget it after reciting it. Memorizing vocabulary books is an extremely inefficient and anti-human thing. So, your brain simply doesn’t cooperate with you. This is why many people buy various English vocabulary books, but only the first and last few units are dirty, and the middle units are all brand new.

Put down the vocabulary book and accumulate vocabulary steadily

Stop using Eishobin’s memory curve method! Don’t mess with root affixes or associative memory methods! These methods are useful, and they are also methods to assist memory. If you are preparing for a certain English exam, be obedient and go through the past papers. After each set of questions, use your mobile phone to look up the unfamiliar words, mark them, and understand every sentence in the article. These are the words you should focus on memorizing. You will see these words appearing repeatedly in the real questions. After a while, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that you can not only remember the Chinese meaning of a word, but also know how to use it. At this time, you have truly mastered the word and will not forget it easily.

Children’s shoes, put down the vocabulary book in your hand, and put down the delusion in your mind to quickly improve your vocabulary.
